Neon lights through raindrop windows
Flickering open signs
The promise of a warm, satisfying night
As our bodies and minds unwind
Liquid loosening playful laughs
Kisses stolen between our shots
Smiling big for funny photographs
As we envelop each other’s thoughts
Beckoning, the night flirts with us
We’re victims of it’s romance
The rain begins to turn to snow
And we get closer beneath its trance
These nights with you have brought me back
To the peace I’ve felt in my heart
To the very calm I’ve been dreamily chasing
When all along it’s been here from the start
NOTES:
I wrote this after making a few stops in the city with my husband. We were on our way to have a good time.
